Shri Ganesh Gramin Vikas Shikshan Sanstha (SGGVSS) was established on 21 January 1993 and has successfully implemented numerous development projects since then. The organization has been honored with the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Dalit Mitra Award for its outstanding work in the fields of Agriculture, Health, Watershed Development,
Education, and Social Development: Over the years, SGGVSS has expanded its reach from a few villages to the entire tahsil level and has partnered with various government ministries and funding agencies. Since 2007, the organization has been working as a key implementation partner with the Ministry of Health and other departments, coordinating programs in gender development, health, and social welfare.
Today, SGGVSS is recognized for its transparent, community-centered approach and its strong team of experienced professionals committed to sustainable rural and urban development.
Excellence in Climate Resilience Agriculture: SGGVSS has been actively working to improve the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers through sustainable agriculture practices. The organization promotes climate-resilient farming, improved crop productivity, soil and water conservation, organic and low-cost farming techniques, and capacity building of farmers. Through training programs, demonstrations, and field-level support, SGGVSS has helped farmers increase income, reduce input costs, and adopt environmentally sustainable practices.
Excellence in WASH: In the WASH sector, SGGVSS has implemented community-based health programs with a focus on maternal and child health, nutrition, adolescent health, and disease prevention. As a Mother NGO (MNGO) and later as an implementation partner with the Ministry of Health, the organization has successfully conducted awareness campaigns, health camps, immunization support, and capacity building of frontline health workers. Special emphasis is given to improving access to Community and School level WASH services in remote and tribal areas.
Excellence in Integrated Watershed Development: SGGVSS has played a significant role in watershed development and natural resource management by implementing soil and water conservation works such as check dams, contour bunding, farm ponds, and water harvesting structures. These interventions have contributed to groundwater recharge, increased irrigation potential, and improved drought resilience of villages, leading to sustainable agricultural productivity and improved rural livelihoods.
Excellence in Education & Skilling: In the field of education, SGGVSS works to improve access to quality education for rural and underprivileged children through remedial education, school support programs, awareness on girls’ education, digital literacy, and scholarship facilitation. The organization also conducts capacity building programs for teachers, youth, and community volunteers to strengthen the local education ecosystem.
Excellence in Social Development: SGGVSS is actively engaged in social development initiatives focusing on women empowerment, gender equity, youth development, livelihood promotion, and community institution building. The organization implements programs on self-help groups, leadership development, legal awareness, social security schemes, and community participation, ensuring inclusive and sustainable development of rural and urban poor communities.
